How It All Started

In May 2013, a devastating Tornado hit Moore Oklahoma and destroyed the nearby town of Little Axe. I had never met Bill, but we had a mutual hunting buddy. That buddy was none other than the late great Country Music Legend Charlie Robison. We lost Charlie in September of ’23. In typical Charlie fashion, I get a call that was something like “Hey man, lets go to Oklahoma and help these people out.” Little did I know, he had made the same call to Bill and dozens of other friends. Since then, Bill and Dave have become like family and have showed up whenever there was catastrophe.

Fast forward to the Hattian Invasion in Del Rio in 2021 and we saw a huge need. There were hundreds of Texas State Troopers, Sheriffs deputies, local law enforcement, from all over the great state of Texas, sleeping in their patrol vehicles, eating junk, and doing what they could to help protect our Southern border. We saw a need.

We went down there with over 1000 lbs of meat, catfish, fries, and enough tortillas to cover Lubbock County. And the rest is history. We have made it a regular obligation and have no plans to stop.

Our Impact

Since our inception, ‘Serve the Border’ has touched the lives of countless officers, offering not just meals but a connection to the community they protect. Our presence is a reminder that they are not alone and that their service is recognized and appreciated. The smiles we receive in return are our greatest reward.

Why We Serve

Beyond the uniform, there are stories of immense dedication and sacrifice. These stories drive us every day to extend our support. By providing hot meals, we are doing more than just feeding hungry officers; we are fueling their spirits, affirming their worth, and acknowledging their hard work.

At ‘Serve the Border,’ we understand the relentless nature of Border Patrol work. Our mission is simple yet profound: to serve those who serve us. Every dish we deliver is prepared with the utmost care and respect, aiming to provide a moment of solace in the demanding lives of our officers.

Our Team
Dave Alexander
Founding Director

Dave is a general contractor and lives in Huntsville Texas with his family. He is a ‘90 graduate from Texas Tech University and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He has always taken great pleasure in serving the community and continues to do so through Serve the Border. His passion for cooking came at a very young age as his grandparents owned an Italian Restaurant. When asked why such an outpouring for law enforcement at the border “I grew up in a family full of cops. It’s part of me. These men an women are in an abusive relationship with their employer. They deserve better and we try to make sure they know how much they are appreciated”

Bill Conlon
Founding Director

Bill is the owner of Conlon Tax Service and a few other small businesses in and around Temple Texas where he lives with his family. He is a ‘95 graduate of Sam Houston State University and a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.  His dedication to helping people is beyond reproach. He has a servants heart and generously donates his time and resources.  He has fed and helped at several areas of need to include tornado and hurricane sites as well as wildfires and most recently the Texas Border.  Plus he knows his way around a kitchen and a smoker which comes in really handy at Serve The Border.

Jackie
Executive Director of Hugs and Kisses
Jackie is actually one of six Border Patrol support animals. No, she isn’t a drug sniffer. But she is super cool. As an official member of the Border Patrol Canine unit, she is deployed when not only kids caught up in the mess down there need some help, but the agents get to love on her as well when they need to. We are proud to have Jackie on our team.
